Two years after the (former) royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced a partnership with Spotify, the first episode of Meghan Markle’s podcast series has gone live.

Over two years ago, the pair signed a huge deal with the streaming service Spotify, which will earn them a whopping £18 million. After many delays and claims from Spotify that the prince and duchess are not meeting their obligations, the company hired a team of producers to make sure the program comes to fruition.

Today (Tuesday) the first episode aired, and the first guest of honor is the tennis player Serena Williams, Markle’s best friend.

As you may remember, the American tennis player Serena Williams recently revealed that she plans to retire soon after a career of over 25 years: “I don’t want it to end, but I’m ready for the next thing. I want to focus on being a mother and the spiritual goals I have,” she said.

In an interview with “Vogue” magazine, the 40-year-old Williams said that she wants to move on to the next stage of her life. “It’s always hard when you love something so much, and God, how much I love tennis. But now the countdown has begun and I’m ready for the future.”

During her career Williams won 23 Grand Slam titles, more than any other woman in the world.

Serena Williams is a requested guest for Markle’s podcast, which deals with female empowerment, and an attempt to investigate the mechanisms and actions that prevented women from advancing in the women’s movement. Merkel will host different experts in each episode, and will have conversations with women on the subject.

Serena Williams announced: “Planning to retire soon”

Markle opened the first chapter with a personal story, about the feelings of anger that overwhelmed her when she was 11 years old, and saw commercials for dish soap meant for women only. The young and ambitious girl was not ready to go over the event in silence, and sent letters to powerful key figures, such as Hillary Clinton.

“In recent years my desire to do something about it has grown,” she said. “Even my voice, that of that 11-year-old girl, became one with more confidence.”

Markle did not spare the criticism, saying that until she started dating Harry, she had never personally felt the third connotation behind the word ‘ambitious’.

“It seems that ambition is a terrible and terrible thing for a woman. At least for some people. Since I felt this feeling, the negativity, it is very difficult to cancel the feeling.”

Williams responded, saying “What do I think about ambitious women? Women are often put into these different boxes, whether we’re ambitious, or when we reach our goals.”

On Spotify’s Instagram, a video of Meghan Markle appeared in which she talks about the new podcast, and “the caption Archetypes with Michael is here”
