On November 28, RA National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan received the delegation headed by Raimundas Lopata, head of the Lithuania-Armenia friendship group.
Friendly relations between Armenia and Lithuania, based on similar historical experience, were highlighted at the meeting.
Alen Simonyan emphasized that Armenia highly appreciates Lithuania’s efforts aimed at deepening Armenia-EU relations, expressing gratitude for Lithuania’s direct participation in the deployment of the EU long-term observation mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
At the core of the conversation were the problems related to the displaced Armenians as a result of the Azerbaijani aggression, the humanitarian support provided by the Lithuanian government to our compatriots forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh.
The Speaker of the RA National Assembly emphasized that democracy is an important guarantee of Armenia’s security, and we expect the support of Western countries in making that democracy more resilient.
He emphasized that our country continues to adhere to the agenda of achieving peace, an important part of which is the “Crossroads of Peace” project presented by the RA government as a tool for establishing peace and promoting economic ties in the region.
