Harvest Festival is a festival celebrated by many in the world community since ancient times. This is the basis for the Thaipongal festival which is celebrated by all the Tamil people of the world.

Thaithirunal is a day of great religious, cultural and social significance for all the Tamil people living all over the world. This festival is one of the most celebrated festivals in the life of Tamils.

This day is a day to express our gratitude to the nature of the farmers who have benefited from their hard work. So on this Pongal festival everyone is enjoying giving thanks to the sun lord.

Emphasizing the glory of nature, the festival elevates all of us to the noble virtue of gratitude. Although our country is different by race, religion and language – we are proud to say that we are all children of Mother Sri Lanka.

The foundation for the prosperity of this nation is the coming together of the thoughts and expectations of all of us. All of us, the people of Sri Lanka, are moving forward together with the lofty goal of “Prosperity” building the country.

It is gratifying that this festival, which is celebrated not only in Sri Lanka but also by Tamils all over the world, has become a noble Pongal festival celebrated by all across ethnic and religious lines.

This change should flourish fully and joyfully throughout our nation. I pray to God, not all, on this auspicious day that all people will live happily, with peace and tranquility, full of good fortune.

On this happy day, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to my fellow Tamil relations who are enjoying the Thai Pongal festival, ”he said in a statement.
