Chennai: The Chennai Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in Tamil Nadu on the 7th and 8th.

Information released by Chennai Meteorological Department in this regard: A low pressure area is likely to form in the Southeast Sea of ​​Bengal and adjacent South Andaman Sea areas on December 5. It is likely to move west-northwestward during next 48 hours and strengthen as a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal. Then it will move further in west-northwest direction and is likely to prevail near North-East-Puduvai and adjoining South Andhra coastal areas on December 8.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at few places over Tamil Nadu, Puduvai and Karaikal today (Nov 4) due to the low circulation in the tropical cyclone extending from Kumarikadal to North Kerala. Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Tirupur, Virudhunagar, Thenkasi, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari districts and Karaikal areas received heavy rain.

Light to moderate rain may occur at a few places in South Tamil Nadu and a few places in North Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal on 5th.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at many places in coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal and at a couple of places in interior districts of Tamil Nadu on 7th. Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai districts and Karaikal regions received heavy rain at one or two places.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at many places in Tamil Nadu on 8th. Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai districts and Puducherry, Karaikal at one or two places with heavy to very heavy rain, Thiruvallur, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Iranipet, Tirupattur, Thiruvannamalai, Kallakurichy, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Tiruchirappalli, Heavy rain is also expected at a couple of places in Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts.

Chennai and its suburbs will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. Light to moderate rain may occur at a few places. The maximum temperature will be around 30-31 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 25-26 degree Celsius.

Warning to Fishermen:

On the 4th, cyclonic winds of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional 55 kmph are likely to occur over the Andaman Sea and adjacent South East Bay of Bengal, Kumari Sea, Lakshadweep and Kerala coastal areas.

On 5th, cyclonic wind speed of 40 to 50 kmph and occasional speed of 60 kmph may occur over Andaman Sea, Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Central East Bay.

Cyclonic winds of 40 to 50 kmph and occasional 60 kmph are likely to occur over Andaman Sea, Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Southwest and Central Bay of Bengal on 6th.

Cyclonic winds of 50 to 60 km/h and occasional 70 km/h are likely to occur over Southwest and adjoining Midwest and Southeast Bay of Bengal, Sri Lankan coastal areas on 7th. Gulf of Mannar and coastal areas of Tamil Nadu are likely to experience cyclonic winds of 40 to 50 kmph with occasional gusts of 60 kmph.

Cyclonic winds with a speed of 50 to 60 kmph and occasional speed of 70 kmph are likely to occur over Southwest and Midwest Bay of Bengal, Andhra – Tamil Nadu coastal areas, North Sri Lankan coastal areas, Kumari Sea areas and Gulf of Mannar on 8th. Fishermen are advised not to go to these areas on the above days.
