What a huge night of football we had tonight (Thursday) with the two mighty battles in the first meeting of the Europa League semi-final. West Ham, who are in a good season, probably in the European arena, surrendered 2: 1 to Eintracht Frankfurt who will restore their tremendous ability from the Camp Nou, where they beat Barcelona in the quarter, and came out with the important advantage in London. In the same game, another German club came out on top with the local Leipzig, who have already seen how they end in a goalless draw against Rangers, enjoying a big goal from Angelino in the 85th minute that brought them an important advance towards the return leg in Scotland.
West Ham – Frankfurt 2: 1
After conquering Barcelona, the visiting fans came en masse to the English capital as well and very much enjoyed seeing their team recover the ability from the encounter against the Catalans. Since the memorable victory over Barça, Frankfurt have failed to win the league, in fact the same game was a lone victory for the Germans in their nine games in all competitions. Apparently the magic of the Whites-Reds is mainly reflected in away games in the European arena, and already in the first minute of the match Ansgar Knauf slammed in the first of Frankfurt and bounced the visiting crowd that came to London. The hammers did not dazzle and did not come under pressure, reached good situations until in the 21st minute Mikhail Antonio closely pushed the equalizer and shook the stadium in the English capital.
West Ham continued to be dangerous, the visitors often made mistakes in defense, but the English did not know how to take advantage of this and reverse the result. In the 54th minute, the Germans again subdued Alphonse Arloa, while Daichi Camada enjoyed a mistake by the French goalkeeper that the top was not good and returned the advantage to the visitors. The Hammers again did not panic, risking Kevin Trapp’s goal, but were not accurate enough in the last kick. In extra time they almost equalized when Jarrod Bowen rose to a tremendous number, but his ball shook the crossbar and did not enter. In a 1-2 draw for Frankfurt who achieved a super important advance towards the rematch in Germany.
Minute 1, Frankfurt went up to 0: 1: Rafael Santos Bora who scored against Barcelona in the second match, raised an accurate ball towards Ansgar Knauf who scored against Barça in the first match, the 20-year-old German hit straight into the net of Alphonse Areola.
21 minutes, West Ham equalized to 1: 1: The Hammers were given a stationary position and raised to the field, Kurt Zuma rose high and slammed straight into Michael Antonio who was uncovered in the opposite corner and pushed close.
54 minutes, Frankfurt went up to 1: 2: Arloia top not good Jibril Sue’s kick and the ball went straight to the feet of Daichi Kamada who scored from close range.
Leipzig – Glasgow Rangers 0: 1
The Scottish champions have made it very difficult for the Germans and have already seen how they come out with a satisfying 0-0 ahead of the rematch, but in the end Leipzig managed to break through the dam, and more how to break it. The Scots mostly enjoyed the misfortune of the hostess, who slammed the gate time and time again. The Whites were more dangerous, controlled the tackle, moved a ball, but in each of their attempts something was missing.
