The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) approved a “historic resolution” at the end of the Sixth Plenary Session, highlighting the outstanding role of Chinese President Xi Jinping as the leading nucleus of the CPC Central Committee. Western media say that he will now be called “the helm of the Chinese renaissance.” Earlier, the founder of communist China, Mao Zedong, was called the “Great Helmsman”.
According to Reuters, during their speeches, officials referred to the head of state as “helmsman” and “people’s leader”. These words were allegedly used during the time of the personality cult of Mao Zedong.
According to the agency, all this means that Xi Jinping, who has served as chairman since 2013, will run for a third term.
