BJP State President K Surendran said what the Youth Commission has done for the youth. This commission has become people who loot crores of rupees from the government exchequer. Surendran said that the additional salary given to the Youth Commission is a proof that this government is not ready to end the waste and looting even though the treasury is empty.
‘All these commissions have become mere corrupt people who eat the money of the common man and get fat. There is no money to pay salaries and pensions, there is no money even to fill the police jeep with petrol.

The salary of the Chairperson of the Youth Commission has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. CPM state committee member Chinta Jerome is the current chairperson of the state youth commission. When she took charge in 2016, her salary was Rs 50,000. It was increased to 1 lakh in 2018. The government has allowed retrospective effect for the salary of 2017.
