Looking back on the biggest trends of the fashion world, almost all of them started with raising an eyebrow from the general public, before entering our hearts and wardrobes. The most obvious example is the transformation of short tights into a legitimate item of clothing even outside the gym. When Kim Kardashian was one of the pioneers of the trend, everyone thought she was out of her mind, but soon the item took over the fashion world, and today it is already a routine and common look.
The same thing happened with the “ugly” shoe trend, sometimes called the daddy shoe trend. It started as part of a broader trend – Normcor, which was a kind of counter-reaction to the maximalism of the fashion world and the way of sophisticated young fashionistas to reclaim the look of the tourist dad at Disney World, including sneakers, straight-cut jeans, polo shirts and of course – pouch.

The “ugly” shoes were received by the audience with very mixed reactions, but they are definitely still with us, mainly because we realized that sneakers are always the most comfortable (and healthy) option, and we began to get used to the interesting contrast when meeting the awkward look of trendy sneakers with tight clothing.
After New Balance were the hottest option in the field, and Balenciaga’s triple S model slightly dropped in size, it’s time for the Asics brand to shine. One can understand why – Asics designs tend to be colorful and laden with lines and seams, and even Balenciaga have adopted the look with a model that some claim has been copied from Asics. With so many details about the sneakers, you can easily combine them with simple clothes like jeans and a T-shirt or a sportswear set, and still look like you put some thought into it. And as always – there are no trends we like more than those already in our closet.
