/ The United States has offered a reward worth $15 million to anyone who provides it with information about Iranian businessman Hossein Hatfi Ardakani, who runs an international network that helped the Iranian Revolutionary Guard obtain advanced technology to develop combat means, including attack drones, according to the Ministry of Justice’s Rewards for Justice website. The US Department of Justice announced the filing of an indictment against Iranian Hossein Hatfi Ardakani and Chinese Gary Lam, working for a Chinese company, for committing crimes related to purchasing precision electronics manufactured in the United States for use in equipping advanced weapons and drones belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
The US Treasury decided to monitor the foreign assets of Ardakani and other individuals involved in the procurement network used by Ardakani to support Iran’s production of drones.
Who is Ardakani? He was born in the city of Ardakan in the Yazd Governorate in central Iran. He holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Behrad Kavan Electronics Company, which was officially registered in Iran on July 13, 2016, and is headquartered in the capital, Tehran.
The company says, according to what was published by Iranian official media, that it “is active in the field of supplies, production, packaging, distribution, purchase, sale, import and export of all communications devices and all permitted commercial goods.”
It also “concludes contracts with all natural and legal persons, obtains loans and facilities in riyals and foreign currencies from all local and foreign banks and financial and credit institutions, participates in all public and private tenders and auctions, establishes branches throughout the country, and holds and participates in public and specialized conferences, seminars, and exhibitions.”
Hossein Hatfi Ardakani also heads two other companies registered in Iran, namely, “Passamed Dynamic Electronic Frequency Engineering” and “Najin Kawir,” in addition to his membership in the board of directors of “Tadbir Arya Engineering Company.”
Tadbeer Aria Engineering Company is the first company founded by Hatti Ardakani on June 26, 2012, as stated by the Iranian “Rasmeo” website concerned with the activities of commercial companies.
There are no pictures of Hossein Hatif Ardakani, and the Iranian media has not covered any of his companies’ activities, which suggests that he may be operating under another name.
