Jeddah: The number of female employees in Saudi Arabia has increased by 2.9 percent in three months. The number of Saudi women employees in the private sector has increased by 31.8 percent in five years. According to the latest figures, 59 per cent of women employees are in the private sector and 41 per cent in the government sector.

At the end of 2016, 53 per cent were in the private sector and 47 per cent in the government sector. The major change in the number of female employees in the private sector has been the result of the government approving a number of policies and programs as part of Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Plan 2020, including driving licenses for women.
