Xiaomi it enjoys the performance of the beginning of 2021, which sees it globally for the third consecutive quarter on the third step of the podium in the ranking of smartphone manufacturers. It also does so by collecting the best result ever over the three months, with a 62% growth in unit shipments which reached 49 million. “We are proud of the results achieved so far which are now absolutely consolidated”, Leonardo Liu, general manager of Xiaomi Italia, tells Adnkronos. Data that, he adds, “are also a stimulus for us to do better and better in Italy”. And it is in Italy that tomorrow Xiaomi will celebrate the third year of official presence, with the opening in 2018 of the ecommerce channel and the first Mi Store.
In Italy, Liu also recalls, “we have regained second place in the ranking of top vendors, with 25% market share and 91% year-on-year growth. A really important milestone – he explains – achieved thanks to the trust of our fans and the support of all our partners. We will certainly not stop, indeed our objectives will be increasingly ambitious “such as aiming at consolidating the company’s positioning also in the premium segment.
For 2021, he indicates Liu as a global goal, “we want to continue in the direction we have taken so far, in order to reach the second step of the podium very soon”, with words that target the two top vendors in the standings, Apple and Samsung. “Our focus – he adds – will be increasingly focused on the ‘smartphone x AIoT’ strategy, continuing to explore new territories in order to allow everyone to live better thanks to innovative technologies”.
As for Xioami’s products, the “battle horse“as Liu defines them are the smartphones of Mi family 11. “We are working on important innovations that affect different aspects of our products, from the camera, to the display and to charging” and “behind these important technological achievements, especially in the camera sector, there is the continuous investment in research and development. We like to amaze and to do so the company is investing in the talent of young people from all over the world“Liu continues.
But Xioami, the Italian general manager is keen to remember, is not just a smartphone. “Smart life products – he explains – are a fundamental part of our success as they allow us to reach, thanks to the different sales channels, an increasingly large number of users. Many know us for their phones – says Leonardo Liu – but Xiaomi is not just a smartphone company, it is also the largest Internet of Things platform in the world with approximately 324.8 million connected devices“. And on this front, he continues,” we are experiencing an ever-increasing demand and we are doing our best to bring as many products to the Italian market as possible so as to meet the needs of our users. Surely electric scooters, fitness bands and Mi TVs were the ones that people paid particular attention to, but we are working to give even more relevance to our broad product ecosystem“, conclude Liu.
