There are a number of foods that reduce stress. In this post I am going to describe 10 anti-stress foods. You can eat or drink these if you are under a lot of stress because they help to reduce stress.

Anti-stress foods

  1. Avocados: These are rich in vitamin B1, also known as the nerve vitamin. Vitamin B1 is involved in normal nerve function and thus contributes to the reduction of stress.
  2. Cereals: especially oatmeal is the ideal breakfast when you are stressed. Oatmeal has a calming effect.

  3. Blueberries: are rich in omega 3 fatty acids that reduce the risk of depression. These fats ensure normal brain function and are therefore not bad at all in stressful situations.

  4. Nuts: are an ideal snack when you are stressed. Many nuts are rich in omega-3 fatty acids that reduce the risk of depression and tryptophan. Tryptophan is an amino acid that promotes the production of the happiness hormone serotonin.

  5. Salmon: is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that reduce the risk of depression. These fats ensure normal brain function and are therefore not bad at all in stressful situations.

  6. Yogurt: A bowl of yogurt is a good idea when you’re feeling stressed. The probiotics in yogurt have a calming effect on areas of the brain that deal with emotions, including stress.

  7. Dark chocolate: Besides the fact that eating dark chocolate makes us happy, it also has a very good influence on our brains. Eating chocolate with at least 70% cocoa reduces stress. Cocoa contains tryptophan, a substance that promotes the production of the happiness hormone serotonin.

  8. Milk: drinking milk reduces feelings of stress, this is due to the protein lactium. Lactium lowers blood pressure and reduces the stress hormone cortisol, which calms your body.
