The Paralympic swimming team started today (Thursday) the world swimming competitions taking place in Italy, and finished with three medals: a silver medal for Iyad Shelby and bronze medals for Ami Dedown and Veronika Girenko, all three members of Ilan Haifa, students of Yaakov Binanson, the national coach.

Veronika Girenko (class 3) came in the final of the 150 individual medley for women to third place overall in 4:29.92 minutes and also won a bronze medal. Dedown also participated in the final of the 100 meter freestyle and finished fourth overall.

Mark Maliar (Class 8) finished in seventh place with 59:47 seconds in the final of the 100 meter freestyle, while breaking the personal record he set in the morning qualifiers (59.71). The swimmers secured their place in the World Championship and the criterion for the games in Paris. As you know, in the field of swimming, each country receives a number of tickets for the games based on the achievements of its swimmers, and it is allowed to distribute them only to those who have met the criteria.
