An unusual case happened about a year ago in the USA, when an adult had an intimate relationship with a minor 18 years younger than her and even got pregnant by him and had time to give birth since then. Now, his family is fighting for custody of his son.
Andrea Serrano, of Fontaine, Colorado, gave birth to a son after having sex with a 13-year-old boy and getting pregnant. She signed a plea deal in her case on Thursday, March 2, after being found guilty of sexual assault and exploitation of a minor. However, according to NEWS11 reports, Serrano was able to get the plea deal with prosecutors to avoid jail time.
As for the current situation of the victim and his family, the 13-year-old’s mother is fighting for custody of the toddler born following the affair. According to reports, while Shabbat the 31st was about to serve ten years in prison due to the charges, she received an exemption from it as part of the plea deal. She was sentenced to a suspended sentence and in May a hearing will be held in her case, where she will find out how long it will last.
According to news channel KRDO 13, Serrano was drunk when she had sex with the boy in her car last year. According to the evidence given in court, the 13-year-old saw the accused as a “mother figure” and according to Colorado authorities, the affair was revealed after the boy’s therapist found out about the intimate relationship. After she was arrested on July 5, 2022, the 31-year-old admitted to the investigators that the minor had been living with her for several weeks and that she was pregnant by him.
The accused is now raising her son alone, despite the fact that she is expected to register as a sex offender. In addition, she is facing additional charges. The victim’s mother was outraged by the plea deal and said: “I feel that my son was deprived of his childhood.” She added: “Now he has to be a father at such a young age. He is a victim and he will have to live with it for the rest of his life. If it was a man who saved a minor – the court’s decision would certainly have been different. I am sad that they have compassion for her.”
