A British government report on the future of British nuclear deterrents revealed that the threat associated with the use of nuclear weapons is increasing and will likely remain high over the next two decades.
British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said, “Nuclear risks are increasing,” noting that “Russia is irresponsibly trying to use talk about nuclear weapons to force other countries to stop providing assistance to the Kiev regime.”
According to the report, the minister stated that “China is rapidly increasing the number of its warheads and expanding its existing arsenal of Russian transport means, and now new members are joining the old members of the nuclear club.”
The British minister believes that “his country must maintain its status as a responsible nuclear state and continue working to modernize Britain’s nuclear arsenal and its fleet of strategic missile submarines.”
Earlier this month, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia’s nuclear triad is more modern than any other country.
The Russian President added: “In fact, only we and the Americans have such a trinity, and we have the entire nuclear component, more modern, and everyone knows that.”
President Putin stressed that Russia is ready to use nuclear weapons, if it is related to the existence of the Russian state, and is related to harming the country’s sovereignty and independence.
