Al-Koni discusses with Onmacht the latest developments in the situation in Libya

Today, Wednesday, Representative of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, discussed with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Libya, Michael Unmacht, the latest developments in the situation in Libya at all levels, especially political, economic, and security.

Al-Koni stressed that the Council will continue to work to achieve stability in the country by communicating with all political parties, considering that national reconciliation is the cornerstone of achieving permanent stability when everyone compromises for the sake of the homeland.

The meeting touched on the national reconciliation project led by the Presidential Council, which has reached advanced stages, in reference to the comprehensive conference that is being prepared for it.

The meeting discussed the situation in the Western region and the Mountain, and the efforts made by the Presidential Council and the government to achieve stability by assigning the Chief of Staff to follow up on the Ras Ijdir port file, in coordination with other security agencies.

The two sides also discussed the events taking place in neighboring countries and their repercussions on the situation in Libya, international efforts aimed at ending the conflict in Sudan, and Libya’s efforts to conduct mediation between the two parties to the conflict, which resulted in the recent visit of both parties to Tripoli.

During the meeting, Al-Koni stressed the need to continue concerted efforts between Libya and the European Union in order to reach a settlement in Sudan.

For his part, the German ambassador affirmed his country’s continued support for the efforts of the Presidential Council aimed at achieving stability, and expressed his hope that all efforts will bear fruit for the stability of Libya so that it can enjoy development and prosperity.
