INTERVIEW – We welcome Ben Lawrence, director of the documentary film Ithaca: the fight to free Assange, which focuses on the daily lives of the activists who work to secure the release of the Australian journalist. Mainstream filmmaker Ben Lawrence says he is fascinated by Assange’s actions for press freedom. Released last October in France, but in 2021 in Australia, during the debates which preceded the Australian federal elections, the film had a wide response, which forced political leaders to take a position on the subject: “No matter their political side , most Australian officials are in favor of Assange’s release. The founder of Wikileaks is still imprisoned in England since 2019, awaiting possible extradition to the United States. A projection ofIthaca takes place this Tuesday, January 30, at 8 p.m., at the Espace Saint-Michel, in Paris.

The Assange Support Committee, which fights to defend the rights of the journalist, will co-organize on February 7 at the National Assembly in Paris, a screening of the film for deputies and the media.
