The National Spectrum Agency (ANE) has announced its commitment to collaborate with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MinTIC) in the process of assigning permits to use the radio spectrum for the year 2024.

Through an Objective Selection Process (PSO), ANE will play a key role in ensuring that new networks deployed do not interfere with or be interfered with by existing permits. In the last four years, the ANE has experienced a significant increase in the attention of requests, addressing 16,231 requests for point-to-point links and 4,566 requests for Coverage Systems.

In this period, the technical management of the spectrum has been streamlined, reducing service times from 49 to 17 days for point-to-point links and from 44 to 36 days for Coverage Systems. These achievements have been achieved through the efficient use of the Spectrum Viewer, a web tool that facilitates the massive analysis of service areas, allowing operators to design, pre-validate their designs, request spectrum permission and deploy networks more fast.

These initiatives, carried out in coordination with the MinTIC, benefit various sectors, including surveillance companies, ambulances, taxis, among others. This makes it possible to keep vehicles and people connected through coverage systems in HF, VHF and UHF bands, as well as allowing mobile operators to make efficient interconnections in networks for microwave or point-to-point links in the SHF and EHF bands.

The ANE, supported by its experience and technological advances, will continue to collaborate closely with the ICT Ministry, providing support during the technical evaluation stages following the Call for the allocation of permits for the use of the radio spectrum in 2024. These actions seek to boost efficiency and quality in the management of the radio spectrum in Colombia.
