An altercation degenerated Friday evening in the borough of LaSalle, in Montreal. A 21-year-old man sustained an upper body injury from a sharp object, and a suspect was arrested.
The event took place around 7:45 p.m. on Newman Boulevard, near Irwin Street, reported the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The suspect, a 26-year-old man, was arrested at the scene. He will be met by investigators over the next few hours. The victim was transported to a hospital center, where there is no fear for his life.
“A perimeter has been erected on Irwin Street, which is closed between Newman Boulevard and Saint-Patrick Street,” said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.
The canine squad has been deployed to the scene of the event, and investigators will be tasked with shedding light on the circumstances of the altercation.
