Next March 26 is the Great Independence and National Day. The Ministry of Liberation War has said that various programs have been taken at the national level to celebrate the day with due dignity.

The ministry informed the information on Sunday (March 24).

It is known that on March 26, the Great Independence and National Day will be started by firing cannons 31 times a day across the country including Dhaka. As the sun rises, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will lay wreaths at Savar National Memorial. After that, under the leadership of the Minister of Liberation War, the Vir Shreshtha family, war-victims and brave freedom fighters will offer wreaths. People from all walks of life including foreign diplomats, various political and social organizations will pay tribute to the martyred freedom fighters by placing wreaths at the memorial.

On this day, the national flag will be hoisted at sunrise in all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings and easily visible buildings in Dhaka city and important buildings and structures will be decorated with lights. However, on the night of the 25th March massacre, the lighting cannot be done.

The main roads and road islands of Dhaka and other cities of the country will be decorated with the national flag and other flags. Bands of different forces will play music at different important places in Dhaka. Today is a public holiday. The President and the Prime Minister will deliver speeches on the occasion. Highlighting the significance of the day, newspapers will publish special articles, articles and literary magazines on this day. The electronic media are broadcasting various programs related to the Liberation War throughout the month.

Various social and cultural organizations including Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Bangla Academy, National Museum, Muktijudda Museum, Bangladesh Shishu Academy and discussion on Liberation War; cultural events; Children’s drawing, essay and sports competitions; Documentaries and movies based on Liberation War will be organized.

Apart from this, felicitations will be given to brave freedom fighters and family members of martyrs in cities, districts and upazilas. Bangladesh Postal Department will issue commemorative postage stamps. Special prayers and worship will be organized in religious institutions for peace, prosperity and progress of the country. High-quality food will be served in all hospitals, prisons, children’s families, old age homes, vagrant institutions and child day care centers in the country.

All children’s parks and museums in the country will be kept open without tickets. Ships of Bangladesh Navy and Coast Guard at Chittagong, Khulna, Mongla and Payra Ports and Dhaka’s Sadarghat, Narayanganj’s Pagla, Barisal and Chandpur BIWTA wharfs will be kept open for public inspection from 9 am to 2 pm on that day. Similar programs will be held at the district and upazila levels and Bangladesh embassies abroad to highlight the significance of the day.
