“We must increase our vigilance not to trust easily and look for valid sources first,” said Tular Nalar Mafindo Partnership Division Coordinator Erie Heriyah in his statement, Tuesday (12/3).
He said that various hoax news are now increasingly sophisticated, the latest of which is the use of Artificial Intelligence or AI. This technology allows other people to create or imitate faces and even voices that can be misused.
“Therefore, people must be more careful in receiving information on social media, check it first before spreading it,” he explained.
Moreover, continued Erie, hoax news spread on the internet often contains titles that lead to provocation. Because people have to be careful and not easily provoked.
“When exposed to hoaxes, it will automatically kill our ability to reason and that is dangerous. “We have to be careful and fortify ourselves by not easily trusting,” he said.
Erie also mentioned that hoaxes can lead to misinformation, where we become the perpetrators of spreading it because we don’t know that the news is false.
