The winners of the traditional international tournament among men boxers “The Great Silk Road” were determined in Baku.

According to İdman.biz, 121 athletes from 11 countries took part in the five-day competition.

The final fights, organized at the Boxing Center, were observed by the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gaibov, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the President of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation Sahil Babayev.

Hasan Melikov (48 kg) met Temirtash Yusupov from Kazakhstan in the decisive match. Our boxer, who defeated his opponent with a score of 3:2 (30:27, 28:29, 28:29, 29:28, 29:28), won the gold medal.

In the 57 kg weight category, Shamil Askerov also climbed to the top of the podium. After the first round, Khudoynazar Fayzov (Uzbekistan) refused the fight, and our boxer won the title.

Their success was repeated by Tayfur Aliyev (63.5 kg). The winner of the European Games in the final turned out to be stronger than Abdulla Madaminov (Uzbekistan) – 3:2 (29:28, 28:29, 28:29, 29:28, 29:28).

Among our other boxers, Azrak Babirov (60 kg), Murad Allahverdiev (86 kg) and Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg) took second place.

The award ceremony was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gaibov and the President of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation Sahil Babayev. The winners were awarded in the 48 kg and 57 kg weight categories, respectively.

Thus, the Azerbaijan national team completes the “Great Silk Road” with 21 medals. Marjona Savrieva (50 kg), Zeynab Ragimova (54 kg) became the first, Mehpara Mamedova (48 kg), Gunel Ragimova (50 kg), Lala Namazly (63 kg) – the second, Anakhanym Ismailova (50 kg), Nargiz Zeynalova (54 kg), Mehseti Khamzaeva, Aisu Dervishova (ob 60 kg), Malik Hasanov (63.5 kg), Ilgar Salakhov (67 kg), Kyamran Shahsuvarly, Mirsharif Kyazymzade (ob 75 kg), Sarkhan Budagovla (80 kg) and Muhammad Abdullayev (+92 kg) – the third.

Our team took second place in the team competition with 5 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze medals. Uzbekistan took first place (5-7-6), and Kazakhstan (3-2-1) completed the top three.

At the tournament, Shamil Asgarov (Azerbaijan) was recognized as the best boxer, Nasreddin Mamedov (Azerbaijan) was recognized as the best judge.
