Economy Minister Nir Barkat called for an end to cooperation with Strauss, noting that the company does not know what “a sense of shame” is.

It is emphasized that Strauss does not comply with promises to freeze prices and continues to increase them. Barkat’s view is that despite reported financial difficulties, the company is still distributing funds to its shareholders in the form of dividends, which raises some questions.

The Strauss Group, an Israeli leader in the food industry, is known for its stability and significant contribution to the Israeli economy. Originally starting out in 1939 as a small dairy producer in Nahariya, the company has grown into one of the leading players in the market.

Earlier this month, Barkat announced a plan to introduce a black sticker on goods whose prices increased during the war without government approval, considering it a natural step in ensuring consumer protection. He also issued a tough ultimatum to food companies.

He urged to avoid purchasing Strauss products, emphasizing the importance of this decision. In February, the minister announced that Strauss, which had promised to freeze prices amid the war effort, was now on an economic blacklist.

After the conflict with the Strauss company, Barkat drew attention to the Osem company and called on the public to also refrain from cooperating with this company.

To protect consumers from rising prices during wartime, companies are either blacklisted or remain whitelisted. According to Barkat, the time has come for Israeli society to punish those who use it in times of peace and especially during times of hostilities. He added that he would not support blacklisted companies.

Earlier, Cursor reported that the Tax Administration calculated the losses the war caused to Israel.
