US President Joe Biden instructed Secretary of State Antony Blicken to determine the importance for US national security of allocating up to $126 million in aid to Ukraine.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax, the White House announced this.

“I hereby delegate to the Secretary of State the authority (…) to determine whether it is important for the security interests of the United States to provide up to $126 million in assistance to Ukraine,” reads the text of Biden’s memorandum published on the White House website.

Earlier it was reported that the United States would send Kyiv a new package of military assistance worth $300 million.

“On behalf of US President Joe Biden, I am announcing a $300 million emergency security package that will include weapons and equipment,” Jake Sullivan, the US national security adviser, said at a briefing on Tuesday.

At the same time, Biden told reporters that the new $300 million military aid package to Ukraine was not enough.

“What we are announcing today is not enough,” presidential pool journalists quote Biden.

“Congress must pass a bipartisan national security bill now,” the US president said, referring to a request for additional funding for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, which House Republicans opposed.

He urged lawmakers to act “before it’s too late.”
