The European Commission reported today that last year Bulgaria received support for a record number of reform projects in the field of digitization and environmental protection. The data indicate that 13 projects have been approved for 2023, while in recent years the number was about ten, BTA reported.

So far, 66 projects for structural reforms in 10 political areas have been implemented in our country with the support of the EC, of ​​which 10 were related to cooperation with other EU countries. The largest part of these projects are for financial management and tax revenue (23 percent), for public administration (21 percent), for access to finance (14 percent), for competitiveness (13 percent), for conservation on nature (8 percent), on the labor market and migration (7 percent).

For this year, our country is working on 11 projects to prepare a production strategy, to provide international protection to asylum seekers, to deal with the demographic crisis, to evaluate policies, to investigate tax fraud. Together with other EU countries, Bulgaria is working to draft legislation for clean hydrogen production, to train for crisis actions, to improve education and combat fraud with EU funds, to counter the abuse of public procurement.

Today, the Commission announced that it has approved a total of 170 new EU projects under the technical support program introduced after 2017, which are expected to lead to 307 reforms.
