«Cape Fear – The promontory of fear», a 1991 film directed by Martin Scorsese starring Robert De Niro, Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange and Juliette Lewis, just today – November 15 – turns 30. The film tells the story of the violent Max Cady (played by De Niro) who, released from prison after 14 years spent in a cell, sets out on the trail of the lawyer Sam Bowden (Nick Nolte) who had defended him during the trial: he wants to take revenge because, in his opinion, he had not done everything he could to clear him and begins to give the torment to him and his family, consisting of his wife Leigh (Lange) and his daughter Danielle (Lewis). Perhaps not everyone knows that “Cape Fear” is a remake of “The Promontory of Fear” by J. Lee Thompson (1962), with Martin Balsam, Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum also returning in the 1991 film in small roles. But this is not the only curiosity.
