This Monday (10), the City Council will host a seminar to discuss the importance of listing as a tool for the preservation of the State Parks of Prosa, Powers and Indigenous Nations. The event will take place in the Oliva Enciso plenary, starting at 8 am.

One of the highlighted parks is the Parque dos Poderes, which has been constantly threatened by the advance of concrete. Recently, the announcement of the construction of a new Palace of the Judiciary Power increased the concern with the preservation of the green in the region. Listing appears as a protective measure to prevent the natural heritage from being destroyed.

During the seminar, proposed by Councilor Luiza Ribeiro (PT) and Councilor André Luis Soares (Rede), technical foundations will be presented on the importance of listing for the preservation of Complexo dos Poderes, including data on the species of flora and fauna present in the area and the environmental, cultural and historical impact to the city.

In addition, the option for listing as a means of protection will be discussed, including Parque das Nações Indígenas, Parque Estadual do Prosa and Parque dos Poderes.

Among the guests are representatives of the State Public Ministry, SOS Parque dos Poderes, Jurists for Democracy and Friends of the Park.

bill – In addition to the seminar, Bill 10,970/2023, proposed by councilor Luiza Ribeiro, is being discussed at the City Council, which also aims to guarantee the protection of the Parque dos Poderes (2,435 square meters), Parque das Nações Indígenas (116 hectares) and Parque do Prosa ( 135 hectares).

The three parks are owned by the government of Mato Grosso do Sul and are included in the project for concessions to the private sector, in partnership with BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development).

The proposal for listing the parks in the Campo Grande Archaeological, Ethnographic and Landscape Book of Listing seeks to prevent new deforestation, prohibiting vegetation suppression in the listed areas.

In the case of existing buildings, there is the possibility of being renovated, as long as they maintain their architectural originality and obtain authorization from the municipal environmental and cultural bodies.
