London: English giants Chelsea have acquired France’s defender Wesley Fofana. Fofana joins Chelsea from Leicester City. Chelsea bought Fofana for Rs 646 crore.
Fofana, 21, joins Chelsea on a seven-year deal. Fofana is Chelsea’s third defender in the new transfer window. Earlier, Chelsea had brought in veteran player Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli and Mark Cucurella from Brighton.
The player, who played 52 matches for Leicester, started his professional football career at Saint Etienne in 2020. Coach Thomas Tuchel believes that with the addition of Fofana, the strength of Chelsea’s defense will increase.
Chelsea have not got off to a good start in the English Premier League. The team lost to Southampton in the last match and dropped to eighth place in the points table.
