In Russia, the production of composite materials for the nuclear, construction and transport industries will begin in June, informed Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at a meeting of the Commission for Scientific and Technological Development.

The authorities, he noted, will continue to focus the allocation of budgetary funds to priority scientific projects for the country, which include federal and comprehensive scientific and technological programs, the most important innovative projects of state importance. Now, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, there are three comprehensive scientific and technical programs in the Russian Federation: “Baby Food”, “Petrochemical Cluster” and “Clean Coal – Green Kuzbass”.

“From July 2023, a program will also begin to create new composite materials for the needs of the nuclear, transport and construction industries,” the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

Earlier in the spring, the Ruselectronics holding (part of Rostec) developed prototypes of a new material capable of absorbing radio waves in a wide frequency range. The factory-tested material absorbs up to 95% of the incident electromagnetic radiation from radars, making it very difficult to detect aircraft. The Central Design Bureau for Special Radio Materials, which created the samples, emphasized that the material does not require maintenance, unlike existing types of stealth coatings, which must be regularly restored.
