Covid situation in Italy and coronavirus infections, the percentage of cases reported in the school age population (26%) compared to the rest of the population has been decreasing slightly for about three weeks. In the last week, 15% of school-age cases were diagnosed in children under 5, 39% in the age group 5-11, 46% in the age group 12-19. This is what emerges from the data contained in the full report on the SARS-Cov-2 epidemiological surveillance of the Higher Institute of Health, published today.

The report recalls how from the beginning of the epidemic to March 16 a total of 3,072,520 cases were diagnosed in the population 0-19 years, of which 15,532 hospitalized, 355 hospitalized in intensive care and 50 died.

The highest incidence rate at 14 days is recorded in the age group 10-19, equal to 1,695 per 100,000, while in the age group 70-79 the lowest value is recorded, 556 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The incidence at 14 days increased in the 10-19, 20-29, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-79 age groups, according to what emerges from the data contained in the Report published today relating to the last two weeks, from 28 February to March 13.

From the weekly monitoring, relating to the period 7-13 March, released yesterday, an increase in the incidence at a national level was highlighted to 576 per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 429 per 100,000 inhabitants in the previous week (28 February-6 March) .
