Promoting the use of bicycles is the aim of the “Accueil Vélo” label, launched on October 17 by the Puy-de-Dôme department and Clermont Auvergne Tourisme. Its aim is to alert cyclists to professionals offering services adapted to two-wheelers, explains The mountain.
The services involved can range from storage for parking your bike to repairs. The targeted structures are tourist accommodation, cycle rental companies, tourist offices, museums and even parks. To obtain the distinction, candidates must show that they can guarantee the reception of cyclists.
They must also pay 200 euros in contributions over three years. Priority is given to the “structuring axes” which are the Via Allier and the Grande traversee du massif central (GTMC), used by cycle tourists. “Bicycle welcome” will be effective at the end of 2023 and its allocation will be followed by possible controls carried out by Clermont Auvergne Tourisme.
