Liván Moinelo, the outstanding Cuban player who plays in the Japanese league, recently signed a record contract with the Softbank Falcons.

This agreement, which spans four seasons, positions Moinelo as the highest-paid player in the history of the Japanese Professional Baseball League, with an impressive figure of $26.4 million.

It is important to note that Moinelo’s talent has not gone unnoticed, and his performance on the mound has established him as one of the most outstanding pitchers in that Asian league.

In fact, the Cuban player is currently considered one of the best not only in his organization but in all of Japanese baseball.

His most notable season was in 2020, when he was awarded the title of Pacific League Reliever of the Year, achieving 40 successful reliefs, the most in the league and a personal best.

Additionally, he recorded 77 strikeouts in 48 innings played, with an ERA of 1.69 earned runs allowed.

As Moinelo concludes the final year of his current contract in 2024, the new signing promises to set an NPB record beginning in the 2025 season.

In 300.1 innings, he has gotten rid of 422 batters by striking out, establishing himself as one of the most outstanding relievers in recent years in Japanese baseball.
