Following a complaint of animal abuse, the Attorney General’s Office has brought to justice a man identified as Luis Albeiro Valencia Hoyos, who faces charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a canine named Lola in the department of Tolima.

The events that triggered this investigation occurred on January 30 in the Chimbí de Melgar village, Tolima.when residents of the area heard the distressing cries of an animal coming from a cambuche in an invasion lot. As they approached, they witnessed an individual allegedly perpetrating the act of sexual abuse against the defenseless canine.

Immediately, the authorities were alerted and on January 31, agents from the National Police together with officials from the Melgar Mayor’s Office went to the scene to rescue the canine., who was later referred to a veterinary clinic to receive specialized care. According to specialist reports, Lola presented obvious signs of sexual violence and behavioral changesappearing defensive and fearful especially in the presence of men.

The Special Group to Fight Animal Abuse (Gelma) of the Prosecutor’s Office formally presented the charges against Valencia Hoyos before a guarantee control judge, charging him with the crime of aggravated animal abuse. However, the accused did not accept the charges against him.

After the judicial process, Lola was handed over to a local animal foundation, who will take care of you and rehabilitate you, providing you with the support and protection necessary for your physical and emotional recovery.
