Modi said that our mantra for the country is development for all (sabka saat, sabka vikas) and it is being implemented for better weight. Modi added that this expressway is a great image of developing India.

Government investment in highways, ports, railways, optical fiber and opening of new medical colleges will boost traders, small businessmen and industries. Modi also said that those who go to Delhi for work will now be able to complete it and return home in the evening. He added that when the expressway comes, businesses around it will also improve.

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union Ministers VK Singh and Gajendra Singh also attended the inauguration. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar participated in the inauguration through video conference.

The inauguration of the first phase of what will be India’s longest expressway on completion comes as elections are held in Rajasthan and eight other states this year. The expressway connecting five states from Gujarat to Maharashtra is considered an engineering marvel.

The route passes through the states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. The route will also connect the major cities of Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara and Surat. The Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section covering a distance of 246 km was commissioned in the first phase at a cost of Rs 12,150 crore. With this, the travel time from Delhi to Jaipur in Rajasthan will be reduced from 5 hours to 3.5 hours.

It is reported that the route connecting Delhi and Mumbai will reduce the travel time from 24 hours to 12 hours. Presently Delhi-Mumbai distance is 1424 km. Once the expressway is completed, it will be reduced to 1,242 km.

Along with 13 seaports, eight major airports and eight multimodal logistics parks, the expressway will also serve the upcoming greenfield airports of Jewar, Navi Mumbai and JNPT Port.

The foundation stone for the first phase of the expressway planned in 2018 was laid on March 9, 2019. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The total cost is expected to be Rs.10,00,000 crore.
