jpnn.com – Jakarta – The National Awakening Party (PKB) presents a number of speakers related to the latest developments in the electric car and battery industry in the country, in a public discussion titled “National Electric Car & Battery Industry” at the PKB DPP Office, Central Jakarta, Thursday (6/2 ).

Associate Professor of the University of Indonesia Mechanical Engineering (UI) Mohammad Adhitya said, from the beginning the start of the electric car industry in the country had not been able to attract the interest of the public. According to him, the development of the electric car industry has been planned since 2012 and began to be introduced in 2018.

“At first it was like a road in place. There we not only learned in terms of electric vehicle engineering, but we also understood the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem as well as the electric vehicle industry in the country,” Adhitya said.

He revealed, the production of electric cars must use domestic raw materials, one of which is a battery. “The car can be anything but the battery is made in Indonesia,” he said.

Adhitya also asked the government to be able to regulate the policy of the electric car industry and increase knowledge, skills and marketing of raw materials so that the electric car industry can use national raw materials, especially batteries.

On that occasion, the Director of the Ministry of Industry Industry Industry (Kemenperin) Solehan said that Indonesia’s potential for the provision of very large battery raw materials. Because, the battery is definitely needed in the production of electric cars.

“Electric car users in Indonesia are still relatively small. With this small ownership has a great potential for the development of the vehicle industry (electricity). Because small means there is still a great market potential to do,” said Solehan.

For this reason, he encouraged the mastery of technology for the development of EV battery production in the country.
