Former President of the United States Donald Trump asked the Israeli government on Monday to end the war in Gaza, despite supporting its right to self-defense, to achieve “peace” and “a normal life for Israel and the rest,” He stated in an interview with ‘Israel Hayom’, the most widely read Hebrew media in the country.

“I would have done the same in his case,” Trump said in relation to the start of the war after the Hamas attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, which left 1,200 dead.

“But Israel must end the fighting. We cannot allow this to continue. We have to reach peace,” added the current Republican presidential candidate.

Trump also warned that the images thatare going around the world – Israeli bombings against the Strip and attacks that have already caused more than 32,000 deaths – can harm it within the international sphere: “They have to be very careful because they are losing a lot of support from much of the world,” he said.

“Those bombs thrown at the buildings in Gaza are being seen by the whole world. I would have liked to call (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and tell him not to do it. It is a very bad image for them,” he added, regarding which critical voices consider a late opportunistic move in the face of his electoral race.

It is not the first time that Trump has criticized Netanyahu, but it is the first time that he has openly called for an end to hostilities within the Palestinian enclave.

Regarding the Hamas attacks on October 7, Trump said they are the “most horrible” thing he has ever seen and dared to blame the current US president, Joe Biden.that this massacre occurred that took the Israeli security forces by surprise.

“Hamas has no respect for Joe Biden, that’s why I blame him for the attack on October 7. He is a very stupid person. His foreign policy over 50 years has been horrible,” he said.

These statements come at a time when relations between the United States and Israel, two great allies, are more tense than ever, especially after the Biden Administration this Monday decided to abstain, after three previous blockades, in a resolution approved today by the UN Security Council calling for an “immediate ceasefire” within Gaza.
