The Xeral Secretariat of Emigration recalls that the Xunta de Galicia has a system for self-training in the Galician language from which all Galicians abroad can benefit. Through the Department of Culture, Education and University and the Agency for the Technological Modernization of Galicia (AMTEGA), Celga 1 online makes it possible to bring the learning of Galician closer to citizens, regardless of where they live and the time they can dedicate to it. .

This new tool is accessible from the Portal of the Galician Language through the following link:

The general secretary of Emigration, Antonio Rodríguez Miranda, recalls the importance of this measure for Galicians abroad, who can thus access regulated courses that allow them to “improve our language outside our borders, thus maintaining an essential link with their land and with their origins.”

The fact that we now have a tool like this will make this learning even easier, with which to qualify for an official title that allows them to compete on equal terms, from a linguistic point of view, with the rest of the Galicians,” something especially important in the case of emigrants who wish to return to Galicia, and also for our Bemes scholarship recipients, who come to Galicia every year to do a master’s degree at one of our universities.”

Celga is the Galician language certification system adapted to the MECRL and is configured through five levels of language knowledge, which include the skills that reflect communicative competence in the different skills.

These certificates allow you to accredit the knowledge that a person has of Galician for the purposes of justifying merits or work and academic requirements, and are obtained through an exam (except level 5) convened by the General Secretariat of Linguistic Policy, although it is also possible to obtain the Celga validation of previous Galician studies.
