The European Union naval warship was deployed near the MV Abdullah a day after the hijackers made first contact with the owner of the hijacked vessel. After that, the owners started negotiating with the pirates to free the ship and the sailors.

According to the report released on Thursday by the EU Naval Force, pirates have hijacked and attempted to hijack 25 vessels since November 24. Most of these are small boats. There are three commercial ships. But the last Bangladeshi ship is now held hostage by Somali pirates.
