The total number of overnight stays in all accommodation facilities in Blagoevgrad region in January 2024 was 227,270, or 1% less compared to the same month of the previous year. Foreign citizens realized 138,698 nights, and Bulgarians – 88,572, reported the Territorial Statistical Bureau “Southwest”.
The number of overnight stays in accommodation facilities in January 2024 decreased by 2.3% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 77,824. Foreign citizens who stayed overnight in the district in January 2024 were 40,257 and realized an average of 3.4 overnight stays. There are 37,567 Bulgarian citizens and they spent an average of 2.4 nights.
The total occupancy of beds in accommodation facilities in the Blagoevgrad region in January 2024 was 40.3%, increasing by 0.2 percentage points compared to a year earlier.
The revenue from overnight stays increased by 16% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached BGN 22,782.4 thousand, with BGN 12,657 thousand from foreign citizens and BGN 10,125 thousand from Bulgarian citizens.
In January 2024, 222 facilities with 10 or more beds – hotels, motels, lodges and other places for short-term accommodation – were operating in the Blagoevgrad region, with 8,188 rooms and 18,420 beds in them. Compared to January 2023, the total number of accommodation places operating during the period decreased by 1.8%, and the number of beds in them by 0.8%.
