Cairo ∙ Cairo talks on a cease-fire in Gaza have dragged on for a third day without a resolution, as Ramadan fast begins next week. Amid widespread hunger, the US, Jordan, France and Egypt continued to airlift food parcels into Gaza. Yesterday, the US and Jordan airlifted 36,800 food packages. Footage has emerged of Israeli forces firing on crowds waiting for food in Gaza City. This is the second incident in a week.

Meanwhile, 3 members of a family were killed in an Israeli bombardment of a residential complex in southern Lebanon. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant has warned that the conflict with Hezbollah on the northern Israel-Lebanon border could lead to a full-scale war. Hamas has proposed the release of 40 hostages if Israel agrees to a 40-day ceasefire in talks that began on Sunday, mediated by the US, Egypt and Qatar.

Hamas is demanding a permanent ceasefire and the withdrawal of the Israeli army if it is to release the more than 100 remaining prisoners in Gaza. It is reported that these proposals are not acceptable to Israel. Israel did not participate in the Cairo talks. At the same time, the mediating countries say that they will continue to negotiate with Israel.

In the last 24 hours, 97 Palestinians were killed in Gaza by Israeli attacks. 123 people were injured. So far 30,631 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza. The number of injured has reached 72,043. UN representative Ruchira Kamboj said that India is considering providing assistance to the UN agency in Palestine. 75% of the 2.3 million people in the Gaza Strip have fled since the Israeli offensive.
