Good news for all of us: the electricity tariff will decrease by 2.4 percent this April

by time news

The Electricity Authority decided on a regular update of the electricity tariff for the consumer.

In accordance with the drop in coal prices in the world, and taking into account the exchange rate and the price index, the tariff for a representative domestic consumer decreased by 2.4 percent, following the previous decrease, which was 1.5 percent.

The Authority notes that the macro-economic environment is unstable, the interest rate, the price index and the exchange rate, the rise of which and the risks arising from it partially offset the decline in international coal prices.

The authority also noted that there has been significant progress in the procedures for the sale of the production units at the Eshkol site of the electrical company, this at the same time as the disaster of the collapse of the crane at the coal dock at the company’s Rotenberg site.

The authority specifies in its decision that it will examine the impact of these two events on the electricity sector, and the meaning for electricity consumers as a whole, by examining all the consequences.
