Leader of Opposition and Chairman of Jatiya Party Golam Mohammad Quader said that the election was not done properly, I told the Parliament before the report of various organizations. I have also written articles in newspapers on election issues. The problem is, some people on our team don’t talk. So, we as a party have been facing some problems in Parliament for a long time. Because, the government is trying to create a difference in our party. Government should not do this. The government will not be happy if a party like ours is destroyed.

He said these things in the president’s speech at the discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the Great Independence Day at the Jatiya Party chairman’s office auditorium in Banani of the capital on Tuesday (March 26).

Golam Mohammad Quader said, if all the powers of the country belong to the people, then they will elect the people’s representatives. Do the people of the country have the right to vote? We wanted a society free from discrimination, where everyone would be held accountable. Why is the price of goods not falling? Why can’t stop the fire every day? Why can’t stop adulteration? The reason is that there is no accountability anywhere. The great contribution of democracy is that everyone will be equal in the eyes of the law.

He said, now it is not possible to speak against the government. There is a law, if you criticize the government, you will be sued according to the law. The government has arranged to keep our demands legally. Could it be in any independent country? People are being silenced. The desired society has not been built in the spirit of the liberation war and we are not going that way. We are going in the opposite direction.

‘People should be given the right to elect leaders, there should be accountability in running the country. People have been created to buy products worth 5 rupees for 5 thousand rupees. There are thousands of cars on the road, showing them that we are not a poor country. The country is not poor for a small number of people, Bangladesh is poor for the majority of people in the country.’

As GM complains, most people are living in uncertainty. Most people don’t know who to go to for justice if their house is repossessed tomorrow. We are getting many such complaints.

Jatiya Party Chairman said, we will sing the praises of freedom for which people have given their lives. We will move forward for that freedom, we will fight if there is an obstacle. There is no need for revolution if problems can be solved through logic. But, where reason has no value, compromise is considered weakness, considered petty, there is no substitute for revolution.

In the process in which the country’s politics is going, no ideological political party in the country will survive. It will stop rational politics. Currently, Awami League has lost its existence as a political party. Awami League is fine only as a government. But, they have moved away from the character of Awami League as a political party. It is doubtful whether there will be a political party without puppets in the future, said the Chairman of Jatiya Party.

The list of freedom fighters has increased several times, GM Quader alleged that Jatiya Party founder Hussain Muhammad Ershad sent people from village to village and made a list of freedom fighters. 70 to 80 thousand freedom fighters were found in that list. Now that list has grown several times. Awami League and BNP have repeatedly listed the freedom fighters to insert the names of their own people. Awami League-BNP has included whoever they want in the list of freedom fighters. A new list of freedom fighters means that some new people will be added. There are fifty-year-old freedom fighters in the country.

Now history is being distorted, the opposition leader said, pointing out that some people are being promoted, and some people are being tried to be erased from history. Laws are being re-enacted to perpetuate history. The main purpose of freedom was to fight against discrimination. The British and Pakistan discriminated against us. We started the struggle against that discrimination. We were being discriminated against through language, the language movement took place against it. Looting is going on in the country by fostering inequality and creating a privileged group. Therefore, we should stand at Shahid Minar and speak against discrimination and injustice. Although the national language is Bengali, all work was done in English. In this, the common boys of the village were suffering from job discrimination. Because the village boys could not speak English. But, boys studying in English medium of big people got jobs. Therefore, Pallibandhu Hussain Muhammad Ershad legislated the introduction of Bengali language at all levels. Hussain Muhammad Ershad implemented the spirit of independence by taking a stand against discrimination.
