The government is awarding Ekushey Padak to popular musician Subhradev in 2024. Musician Prince Mahmud has criticized the artist for his contribution to music. Shubradev opened his mouth about the matter.
Shubradev said in an interview given to a private television of the country, “Prince Mahmud is much younger than me in terms of work. Once he used to sit for hours at my Pallavi’s house to take music. I don’t want to say them. He is not of our level. I will consider those who have the greatest contribution to world music. Those who are criticizing are criticizing from the place of Jealous. I do not bother about this matter.’
Explaining, Shubhradeva said, ‘Music is Gurumukhi Vidya. It’s nothing to brag about. But very few artists have contributed as much as I have in the industry. It’s not just about singing. If I say, which musician of Bangladesh has become an international band ambassador, which artist has made a theme song in international cricket, then you will not be able to name anyone. I was the first artist of the country to be invited to the Bollywood Music Awards. These happened 10-15 years ago. Besides, I received the National Award at the age of 12. Received many other awards including Mother Teresa. That is why those who know about my work, most of them said, this medal should have been received long ago.’
