Hurricane Fiona hits Canada; Warning | NRI

OTTAWA – Hurricane Fiona made landfall on the coast of eastern Canada on Saturday. Many people were shifted to safe places due to strong winds. Trees fell in many places. Reuters reported that the power line was also damaged.

Landslides also occurred in some places in Nova Scotia. Fiona is currently a post-tropical cyclone. The maximum wind speed is 110-150 kmph. Officials informed that it has been considered as a category 1 cyclone.

Strong winds and rains disrupted power supply in places like Nova Sotika and Prince Edward Island. Officials have warned that up to 10 inches of rain fell in some places and there is a possibility of flash floods.

Authorities have warned people on the Atlantic coast to be cautious. There were earlier reports that it was the strongest hurricane in Canada’s history.
