IIT-Delhi, Jamia Millia, IMA Among 6k Entities Whose FCRA License Ceased

As many as 5,789 organizations, including Jamia Islamia University and the Indian Medical Association, lost their access to foreign funding and donations yesterday.

About 600 organizations, including the Nehru Memorial Museum and the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Foundation, are based in Delhi. The Interior Ministry said the organizations had expired because they had not renewed their permit to receive foreign funding.

The list also includes the Indian Tuberculosis Association, the Indira Gandhi National Arts Center and the Indian Islamic Cultural Center. The Interior Ministry said 179 organizations had their permits revoked due to non-compliance with the rules for receiving foreign donations.

Mother Teresa’s missionary’s application under the Foreign Contribution Regulation (FCRA) was rejected on the 25th for failing to comply with legal requirements for foreign financial assistance.

At this point, about 13,000 organizations and organizations had applied to renew their FCRA license. Of these, applications from 179 organizations have been rejected.

However, 5,789 organizations and institutions have lost eligibility for foreign donations due to non-application for license renewal.

Thus many of the licensed companies are featured in major companies. Among them are Delhi IIT, Jamia Millia Islamia University, Indian Medical Association, Medical Council of India, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, Habitat Center of India, Lady Shriram Women’s College and Delhi College of Engineering.
