Manama: An expatriate youth who forged a certificate to take medical leave in Bahrain has been sentenced to three years in prison. The case is that he submitted a fake sick leave certificate to the company where he was working. He was earlier convicted in a case of forgery.

The court also ruled that the 28-year-old expatriate should be deported from Bahrain after serving his sentence. According to local media reports, he refused to attend court proceedings despite being in custody. His position was that he was not interested.

During the period from 2019 to 2020, he produced fake documents and produced them in the company where he worked. Many witnesses were produced in the court against the accused. A lawyer, an employee who worked in the human resources department of the company where the accused worked, an official from the Ministry of Health and a doctor all appeared in court as witnesses against the accused.

The issuance of family and visit visas to expatriates has been suspended

Kuwait City: The issuing of family and visit visas to expatriates in Kuwait has been temporarily suspended. The Ministry of Home Affairs has given instructions in this regard to the residence affairs departments of all the six governorates of the country. It has been informed that family and visit visas will not be granted until further notice.

Meanwhile, doctors and European citizens applying for visas online have been exempted from this decision. The new restriction will not apply to those already granted family visas. Kuwait is in the process of implementing new procedures and criteria for granting visas. According to reports, permission will be given after completion of studies regarding this.
