The 1st Interscholastic Mathematical Games of Ioannina are co-organized today, Thursday, on the occasion of the International P Day, by the 3rd GEL of Ioannina “Epiphanios School”, the 5th GEL, the 8th GEL, the Standard GEL of Zosimaia School, the Arsakeio Lyceum of Ioannina, the 10th Gymnasium ” Theodoros Papagiannis”, the Music High School “Nikolaos Doumbas” and the Arsakeio High School in collaboration with the Mathematics Department of the University of Ioannina.
This is a new – pilot for this year – original competition in terms of goals and procedures for students in the 3rd grade of the Gymnasium and the 1st grade of the Lyceum, which includes, in addition to classic Mathematics, mathematical puzzles as well as geometric constructions and measurements in nature, which the co-organizers aspire to establish every year with the participation of more schools. The competitive process will be preceded by a speech by Professor Michael Xenou entitled “Mathematics: The Language of Science”.
Greetings will be addressed by Professor of the Department of Mathematics and member of the Board of Management of the University of Ioannina Konstantinos Zografos and Education Advisor PE03 Aphrodite Hatsidou. The games will be hosted at the Arsakeia Schools of Ioannina.
