“Thinking about families over these holidays,” Joely wrote in the caption. “how much we can infuriate each other, push each other’s buttons etc, but oh that primordial LOVE. These photos were taken the summer my sister Natasha got married.”
The second photograph depicts Natasha seated and smiling warmly with her mother,Vanessa Redgrave. Joely continued, recalling the period following Natasha’s honeymoon. “After her honeymoon she came to visit us in London. My daughter @daisybevan had been her bridesmaid so rushed to put her outfit back on. My brother Carlo was there. Mum hadn’t been able to go to the wedding so we raised a glass. Raising a glass to you and yours on this eve of a new year x #90s #2026.”
The post arrives more than 14 years after the tragic death of Natasha Richardson, who passed away at the age of 45 in 2009 following a skiing accident. The actress suffered a brain bleed after falling during a ski lesson at Mont Tremblant ski resort in Quebec, Canada, in March 2009. She was on vacation with her husband, Liam Neeson, and their two sons, Michaél and Daniel.
What began as a family getaway while Neeson filmed a movie in Toronto quickly turned devastating. According to reports, Richardson initially downplayed her injury, telling her husband she had simply “taken a tumble in the snow.” Tho, the severity of her condition soon became apparent.
Neeson later recounted to Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes five years after her death, the harrowing details of learning his wife was “brain dead.” A doctor showed him an X-ray revealing the extent of the injury, describing her brain as “squashed up against the side of the skull.”
In a profoundly moving account, Neeson shared his final moments with his wife, recalling telling her, “sweetie, you’re not coming back from this. You’ve banged your head… And we’re bringing you back to New York.”
