Accordingly, Schuster should be appointed as coach this week. The announcement is conceivable on Thursday or Friday. Schuster has not yet coached a club as a head coach and has recently acquired his pro coaching license. The 38-year-old is now starting straight away with the Bundesliga.
Streich praised Schuster again and again
Schuster only told the “Schwäbische Zeitung” in February: “Of course I’m interested in coaching a team at some point, but I don’t have a concrete plan for it.” Apparently there is now.
Freiburg remains true to its own line. Christian Streich also worked at the club for years before becoming head coach. He was coach of the U19s and then moved up to the professionals. First as an assistant coach, then as a man on the sidelines. The 58-year-old also values Schuster very much and has repeatedly praised his work ethic in the past.
