India’s Kitambi Srikanth wins silver at World Badminton Championships This is the first time India has won two medals in the men’s singles at the World Championships on Sunday. Kitambi Srikanth has done this feat.
Srikanth, who had earlier faced Singapore’s Lo Keen Yu in the final, lost in straight sets 15-21 20-22 in 43 minutes.

India has won many bronze medals before. Kidambi Srikanth, 28, won the silver medal while Prakash Padukone (bronze in 1983), P Sai Praneeth (bronze in 2019) and Lakshya Sen (bronze medalist this year) won bronze.
Srikanth, who is currently a silver medalist, has won silver for India in the line-up of PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal, who have won silver in the women’s category in the past.
B.V. Sindhu won the gold medal in 2019. She, too, won two silver and two bronze, while Saina won silver in Jakarta in 2015 and bronze in 2017 in Glasgow.

Despite not being able to win the gold medal, it was a significant achievement for Srikanth, who has suffered from a knee injury during the 2017 French Open final and has been suffering from fitness issues and lack of form since winning four Super Series titles that year.
Srikanth, who finished 12th in his first final after the 2019 India Open, has now won the silver medal.
Srikanth, currently ranked 14th in the world, started the final with a superb net triple of 24-year-old Lo Keen Yu to take an early 3-1 lead. Loh Kean Yew, who finished second at the Dutch Open, High Open and Indonesian Open Super 1000, has now won gold.
